My Love Will Cost You (Flash Fiction)

Thank you, Priceless Joy, for hosting Flash Fiction for Aspiring Writers, and thank you, Mike Vore, for providing the inspiring photo prompt this week. If you haven’t heard of or joined this challenge, please go check out PJ’s blog for more details and entertaining entries. You won’t regret it.

Now, to the story:

Daisy May, the ad on Craigslist read.

“A great American appeal, hot, young, and ready to wear you out. Come explore every secret hidden under her hood. That is, if you’re man enough to spread her out across the country.”

Keith loosens his tie as a breeze whips up around him. Birds tok-tok in the trees overhead, and dirt bikes race in the distance. He smooths his hair back and licks his lips, more than ready. This has to work. Nothing can go wrong. Not like last time.

But when he knocks on the vine-framed door, an old woman jumps out. Her yellowed skin stretches and sags as she laughs her head off.

She grabs him with sharp nails and spins him around. “Looking for Daisy May, are ya, you dirty brute? Have at her, then.”

A big, red, rusty truck sits on the side of the yard, waiting.

The woman cackles, hacking up spit. “This never gets old.”

All the blood in Keith’s body rushes into his cheeks. But…but…he only came here undercover. To bust child prostitution! This was supposed to be his big break.

He cringes. Wait until the guys hear about this. They’ll never let him live it down.

  1. Ha, that’s quite a mean trick to pull, but she seems so happy doing it! Poor guy, maybe no one will ever find out at work…. Nice take.
