Main vs Secondary Characters

Is it worse to do or to watch? To get involved or wait for your loved one to come back alive? To do harm or allow it? To win or lose? To have responsibility or be treated as if you don’t matter?

Play with these dynamics as you write. Main characters in effective stories aren’t the only ones affected. The reader gets authentic, well-developed characters—regardless if they’re major or minor to the plot—instead of cardboard cut-outs only there to complement that main character. Maybe I’m weird, but I love stories in which the world doesn’t revolve solely around one person.

Do you agree or think that’s crap?
